I'm not sure if anyone else is having this problem but when I started the game the intro kept lagging all to hell so I fixed the problem. This is also a way to bypass the intro just in case you're interested.
Go to your Dragon Age\data directory and open DAOriginsConfig. Search for "intro" and it's the first entry you come across. On the right it will say Disable. Change it to Enable and it will bypass the introduction altogether, stopping the lag and the annoyance of seeing the intro over and over.
